Ten Feet Tall is all about building ‘speaking muscles’ and we recognise this takes time and practice. It’s our experience that students develop these skills the fastest when they are working towards a goal or performance. We are now offering a short course for Middle School students called ‘TALK’.
It’s our vision that all students would leave school with the ability to:
- Understand how to honour someone in a short social speech like a thank you speech or welcome speech and deliver this with impact.
- Prepare presentations and talks with an audience focus, delivering with impact, in an extempore manner.
- Read aloud clearly engaging listeners.
- Develop skills that ensure every day communications (like telephone calls, interviews, role plays) are polite, confident, high impact, authentic and appropriate.
Join us for 2 terms weeks to work on specific skills using Speech New Zealand’s Oral Communication Assessment Programme.
Classes are after school in small groups, shared or private lessons. Students work towards an Oral Communication Assessment badge appropriate to their year level and skills. Students sit the assessment in groups in front of a Speech New Zealand Assessor.
We work on a variety of skills in our short courses:
- Extempore Speaking
- Poetry Recital
- Reading Aloud
- Impromptu Speaking
- Expressing opinions
- Telephone Conversations
- Role Play
- Social Speeches
Invest in skills that last for a lifetime. Register below for our half year programme.
