Speech and Drama Classes

Speech and Drama

Speech & Drama Classes for Children & Teens in Auckland

Give your child confidence to speak, perform and express yourself

Speech & Drama gives students the tools to turn words into powerful communication. They learn how to use their voice and body with purpose, interpret language and texts, create characters and engage an audience.

Ten Feet Tall Speech & Drama classes develop voice, body, language and performance skills. Through poetry, prose, storytelling, drama and performance, students learn to communicate with greater clarity, expression and presence — skills they can use both on stage and in everyday life.

What will my child learn?

Speech & Drama develops confident, expressive communication through practical, active learning. Students learn through speaking, performing, interpreting, creating and responding — developing skills they can use on stage, at school and in everyday life.

Speaking & Voice

Develop clarity, projection, pace, emphasis, expression and vocal control — learning how to use the voice effectively for different audiences and situations.

Public Speaking

Learn to organise ideas, explain clearly, give speeches and presentations, engage an audience and speak with greater confidence both prepared and on the spot.

Storytelling & Literature

Explore storytelling, poetry and prose, learning to interpret meaning and use voice, imagination and expression to bring words and stories to life.

Acting & Performance

Explore characterisation, role play, movement, mime and scene work while learning how to communicate character, emotion and meaning to an audience.

Improvisation & Thinking on Your Feet

Develop quick thinking and spontaneous communication through improvisation, interviews, role play and impromptu speaking — learning to listen, respond and adapt in the moment.

Communication

Develop listening, body language, collaboration and everyday communication skills — from explaining an idea clearly to contributing to discussions and working effectively with others.

Ten Feet Tall Promise

The Ten Feet Tall Promise

What you can expect when your child learns with us.

More opportunities to participate, individual coaching and communication skills that grow with them.

01

Every Student Speaks

No sitting at the back and watching. Every student has opportunities to speak, participate, practise and perform in every class.

02

Every Student Is Coached

Every student receives individual feedback and practical guidance — so they know what they're doing well and what to work on next.

03

Small Groups. More Doing.

Smaller classes mean more opportunities to speak, perform, practise and receive attention from their coach.

04

Skills They Can Actually Use

Students develop voice, expression, public speaking, listening, collaboration and performance skills they can use at school and beyond.

05

Progress You Can See

Structured programmes build skills over time — from first steps in speaking and performing to sophisticated communication and performance.

We don't need every child to become a performer. We want every child to know they have something worth saying — and the skills and confidence to say it.

Choose Your Path in 2026

In 2026, Speech & Drama, Public Speaking and Acting can all be taken with or without exams. Students are welcome to simply enjoy developing their confidence, communication and performance skills, with no requirement to work towards a qualification.

From 2027: Two Clear Pathways

From 2027, students can choose between our Communication Academy and Skills Classes, depending on their goals.

Communication Academy
Our specialist exam pathway for Speech & Drama, Public Speaking and Acting. Students follow structured programmes that develop skills progressively towards recognised Speech New Zealand and Trinity College London qualifications.

Speech & Drama exams begin from Year 4.

Skills Classes
For students who want to build strong communication skills without exams. Confidence Club and Debate offer practical, engaging classes focused on speaking with confidence, thinking on their feet, expressing ideas clearly and working effectively with others.
