Welcome to Ten Feet Tall Classes. We are so pleased your family has joined us. Below is information to help you use our parent portal and get your child ready for their first class.
Who we are
Ten Feet Tall has been running classes on the North Shore for 12 years. Read more about our story and teachers here.
Parent Portal
We operate a Parent Portal so that all important information is kept in one place. At the beginning of each term, please log in to the Parent Portal using the link in the top right-hand corner of our website, or click here.
If you are using the Portal for the first time, please watch our helpful video guide here.
Each term, please:
- Check the Parent News & Announcements page in the portal for the most up-to-date information.
- Confirm your child’s class location, day, and time.
- Accept our policies by sliding ‘Yes’.
- Ensure payment is made by the first Friday of the term. Please note you need to opt-out of the direct debit by contacting: accounts @tenfeettall.co.nz
- If your child will be away, please schedule their absence so you can book a make-up lesson.

Confirm your Child’s Enrolment
Once payment is made, your child’s enrolment is confirmed. There are two ways to make payment:
Credit Card or Direct Debit: You may pay by credit card at the time of enrolment, or on the first Friday of the term through our direct debit service. Please read our Terms and Conditions for credit card fees. If you would like to opt out of the direct debit at any time, please email accounts@tenfeettall.co.nz.
Manual Bank Transfer: You may pay by bank transfer to Ten Feet Tall Ltd; Account Number- 02-0108-0611719-000 Please include your child’s name as the payment reference so we can reconcile your payment correctly. Please note your child’s enrolment is not confirmed until you complete payment via bank transfer.

What to bring to class
Speech and Drama
- Folder - any type to store pieces
- Paper copies of pieces to learn will be given out in class and emailed
- Printed copies will be used during lessons
- Drink bottle
Public Speaking
- A named 1B8 exercise book or in-school classes laptop
- A6 Notebook -for impromptu exercises
- Pencils and/or pens
- Drink bottle
Debate
- A named 1B8 exercise book.
- Pencils and/or pens
- Drink bottle
Term Learning Outcomes & Student Pieces
Each term, we upload the learning outcomes for every class to the Parent Portal.
To view these, simply navigate to your child’s schedule and click the blue ‘Resources’ link.
Inside the Resources section, you will find:
- The learning outcomes for the term
- Copies of poems, scripts, speeches, and other class materials
- For Debate classes, a weekly outline of the topics being discussed
These resources help you keep track of what your child is working on and provide easy access to any pieces they may need at home.

What to Wear to Class
We recommend students wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and participation. School uniforms are acceptable if coming straight from school. Footwear should be practical and secure.
Schedule an Absence and Make-Up
If your child is unable to attend a group class, please log into the parent portal and book a make up class. Information on how to schedule an absence or make-up class is here.
Please note:
- Make up classes are only available for students in our group or shared classes.
- All private classes are booked for a specific time and teacher and we do not offer make-up classes for private classes. If a student is unable to attend their private lesson, the session will be forfeited. Private class students are welcome to book a group make-up class where there is space in our timetable via the Parent Portal or App and no later than the end of Week 8.
- Make-up classes are not guaranteed, we only offer make-up classes where there is space in our timetable.
- All make up classes must be completed by Week 8 of the term. Any unused make-up classes will expire after Week 8.
- Make-up classes can not be carried forward, transferred or exchanged for credits or refunds.
- Please refer to our General Terms and Conditions 2026 for guidance on class attendance and make up classes.

We also share a regular newsletter celebrating our students’ achievements in the ‘News and Updates’ section on our website under parent information.
To make sure our emails reach you, please add us as a safe sender in your email settings.
Behaviour Expectations
We want all students to get the most out of their classes. To help ensure a positive learning environment, we ask students to:
- Be respectful to coaches and classmates.
- Participate actively in all activities.
- Come prepared and ready to engage.

- Talk about what they’ll be learning: Share that they’ll be doing fun activities that involve acting, speaking, and presenting.
- Encourage a positive mindset: Remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes and that the goal is to have fun and try new things.
- Pack their materials: Make sure they have everything they need for class, including exercise books and writing materials.
