Celebrating Brooklyn's Success at the South Auckland Performing Arts Competition – June 2025
We are so proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of Brooklyn Ye, who represented Ten Feet Tall Speech and Drama at the South Auckland Performing Arts Competitions (SAPACS) on Monday, 30 June, and the Rotorua Speech and Drama Competition on Sunday, 20 July 2025.
In South Auckland, Brooklyn competed in five events, performing:
Two memorised poems
A dramatic character recital
An impromptu mime
A prepared reading
Brooklyn worked closely with his coach, Sarah Hartley, throughout the term to refine and perfect his performances. He showed outstanding dedication, memorising and polishing four prepared pieces and developing confidence in his impromptu performance skills.
Brooklyn began his Speech and Drama journey at just five years old, first taking the stage at the West Auckland Performing Arts Competitions. Now in Year 4, he was excited to step into a new challenge and take part in this year’s SAPACS event in South Auckland.
His hard work paid off — Brooklyn had an incredibly successful competition and gained valuable stage experience that will serve him well into the future. We are thrilled to celebrate his well-earned awards:
Tomlinson Challenge Cup – Most points across three classes
Patten Challenge Cup – Most points in character and poem
SAPACS Trophy – Character Recital
J & A Cusack Challenge Cup – Highest Points in the Junior Section (7 & under 13 years)
the rotorua speech and drama competition - july 2025

Brooklyn was on a high from his winning streak at the South Auckland competition and took home more trophy's at the Rotorua Speech and Drama Competition on Sunday, 20 July.
Competing in the 8 and Under 10 Years category, Brooklyn was awarded three prestigious cups:
The Elizabeth Cup – for his beautifully delivered Own Selection Poem
The Nicole Moore Cup – for his clever and engaging Light Verse Performance
Laura Watson Trophy - Most Promising Performer Under 10 Brooklyn Ye
Brooklyn also placed second in the Character in Costume section, impressing the judges with his creativity, expression, and strong stage presence.
Our Ten Feet Tall community is celebrating Brooklyn's achievements, and his incredible results are a testament to Brooklyn’s talent, hard work, and the confidence he’s developed through regular Speech and Drama classes.
At Ten Feet Tall, we believe performing builds lifelong skills — from public speaking and critical thinking to self-expression and resilience. Brooklyn’s journey is a fantastic example of how early participation in Speech and Drama competitions in Auckland can spark confidence and create proud moments for the whole family.
